I will preface this post by saying that the easy in the title comes from the use of my bread machine. I never would’ve attempted this recipe, and many others, without it. I LOVE my bread machine for making dough and if you don’t have one yet, I’d highly recommend getting one! If only to make this easy from scratch cinnamon roll monkey bread, you’ll be super happy you did!

I realize that for a lot of people, making yeast dough by hand is no problem. I’m sure I could be successful if I really wanted to devote the time to it. But I don’t, I have other things I’d rather be doing. And why worry about it when my bread machine makes perfect dough every time with minimal effort. Besides my slow cooker, my bread machine is my favorite tool in the kitchen. Oh, and my stand mixer, that machine is amazing too.
To begin, place your ingredients in your bread machine pan and select the dough setting. My machine takes one and a half hours and I’m betting most machines are about the same. This is so easy my 13 year old daughter does it. We made this on one of the last nice days of fall, so while the bread machine was hard at work making the dough, I weeded the strawberry patch one last time. Talk about multi-tasking.
When the dough is ready, turn it out on to a very well floured surface. Divide the dough ball in half and roll each half out to about an eight inch square. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut each half of the dough into 20 pieces, about 40 total. The exact size of each ball is not important, so don’t worry if your measurements aren’t exactly the same as mine. Just try to get each ball roughly the same size. Use lots of flour here! There’s nothing more annoying than sticky dough.
Set your oven to 200°F and once it reaches temp, turn it off. Melt eight tablespoons butter in a microwave safe bowl. Combine one and a half cups brown sugar and three teaspoons ground cinnamon in another bowl. Grease the inside of a Bundt pan very well. I melted some additional butter and used my pastry brush to get inside all the folds of the pan. One at a time, roll each piece of dough into a ball, coat in the melted butter, and then roll in the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture. Make sure the entire surface of each ball is covered. Repeat for all the dough and place in the prepared Bundt pan. I know it takes a little bit of time to do this, but trust me, the results are SO worth it! It goes faster if you have some help, my daughter rolled the dough into balls and I did the messy part. Teenagers are the best, most of the time. . .
Once you’ve finished coating all of the dough balls (does that sound funny to anyone else?), and have them placed inside the Bundt pan, cover the pan with plastic wrap and place in the previously heated oven. Allow them to rise for about one hour.
Here’s what the monkey bread should look like once it’s risen and is ready to be baked. Make sure you remove the bread from the oven and then heat it to 350°F. Unwrap the bread and bake for about 30 minutes. Your kitchen is going to smell so amazing while this is happening!
When the bread is done baking, allow it to cool slightly in the pan, about five minutes.
Turn the Bundt pan over and release the monkey bread. I could’ve been done at this point. Look at how amazingly delicious that looks! I felt a little guilty adding even more sugar to the top, but it is a dessert. And you can’t have cinnamon roll monkey bread without icing, right?!
While the most amazing thing you’ve ever baked is cooling a bit, mix together one cup powdered sugar and two tablespoons milk in a bowl. I used my whisk to drizzle the monkey bread with the icing. And I used all of it. I don’t regret it one bit.
I’m pretty sure every one of us burned our tongues on this thing. We simply couldn’t wait to try it!
And I couldn’t stop taking pictures either. Every part of this amazing bread tasted like the center of a cinnamon roll, the best part! I know I’m starting to sound crazy but if you’re a fan of cinnamon rolls, you HAVE to make this! Enjoy!

Above you will find some of the equipment I used while making this melt-in-your-mouth Easy From Scratch Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread.
Like I mentioned above, I LOVE my bread machine. This is the exact model I have and it works great. I use it to not only make dough for recipes such as this, but for loaves of bread for my family. I also make delicious dinner rolls with the dough setting. Although this bread machine is very affordable, I can’t put a price on how much time it saves me in the kitchen.
I love my silicone pastry brush and use it very often! It was great getting the inside of the Bundt pan evenly greased.
I have a vintage wooden rolling pin. This basic model will get the job done, don’t need anything too fancy.
Obviously, you can’t make monkey bread without a Bundt pan. I purchased mine from an estate sale (love my vintage stuff!), but here’s something similar.
