There are so many different styles and types of barbecue sauce that sometimes it’s hard to choose a favorite. This is a very simple recipe. You will need: 1 1/2 cups apple cider vinegar, 1 1/2 cups ketchup, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 2/3 cup yellow mustard, 4 tablespoons Dijon mustard, 1 1/2 tablespoons onion powder, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon salt and 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce.
Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk to combine and continue to occasionally stir and cook for about 5-10 minutes.
I like my barbecue sauce on the thinner side, as I am usually using it in recipes, not as a dip or straight sauce. Once the sauce is as thick as you’d like, remove from the heat and allow to cool. This recipes makes about 4 cups of barbecue sauce. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
