Begin by cutting a quarter cup unsalted butter and one eight ounce package of cream cheese into small chunks. Place these in a small saucepan and heat over medium low heat, stirring often. Cream cheese is used in so many recipes and keeps for quite awhile in the fridge. I like to stock up when they’re on sale so I always have some on hand. Also, I love that butter freezes well. I keep an extra box in the freezer at all times so I never run out!

Next, add 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Add more or less depending on how spicy you’d like your dip. I leave the cayenne out so everyone can spice theirs up if desired.

Finely slice one green onion and add that to your dip.

I find that a whisk does an excellent job of making sure everything gets nice and incorporated. Continue stirring until a creamy texture is achieved.

Lastly, add two cans DRAINED white crab meat and a dash salt and black pepper. Stir until fully incorporated and heated through, about three minutes.

And you’re done! Transfer dip to serving dish and garnish with a sprinkle of cayenne and more green onions. If you won’t be devouring this in the first 15-20 minutes, consider using a small slow cooker or fondue pot to keep it warm. (It never lasts long enough to cool off around here though!) This Last Minute Warm Crab & Cream Cheese Dip goes excellent with crackers and/or sliced veggies. I absolutely love dipping carrots into almost every dip I make. Enjoy!
