I love any and all pasta salads. Salmon is also super high on my list of favorite foods. Combine them together in this smoky salmon pasta salad, I’m in foodie heaven!

I love salmon for many reasons, it’s super good for you, easy to prepare, but most of all, it’s so pretty! Love the pink together with the orange of the sharp cheddar, drool-worthy for sure. This is a very easy pasta salad that is great anytime of year. You might want to make a double batch, it goes quick!
To begin, you’ll want to get your salmon cooked. Preheat your oven to 450°F. Line a baking dish with parchment paper, lay your salmon on top. I only had one 4.5 oz fillet when I made this, but I would definitely double up for this salad next time. I purchase my salmon from Sam’s, boneless and skinless. I’ve tried salmon fillets from other places and they are never as good as these. They are individually packaged, making them easy to handle and thaw. Season your salmon lightly on both sides with pepper and a little seasoned salt. Once your oven is preheated, bake the salmon for about 12 minutes. Easy.
Remove the salmon from the oven and allow it to cool. Start prepping the other ingredients for the salad while it’s cooling.
Boil eight ounces (about two cups) penne pasta according to the package directions. Drain, rinse and set aside. You could substitute any shape pasta you have on hand for this recipe. Bow tie pasta would be great as well. Slice four ounces (one cup) extra sharp cheddar cheese into cubes. Chop half a small yellow onion and three stalks celery (about two cups.) Of course, you can alter the amounts of any of these ingredients based on your personal preferences. That’s the great thing about pasta salads!
Combine your celery, onions and cheddar cheese in a large bowl. Add a quarter cup light mayo and one teaspoon liquid smoke. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Add your cooked pasta and give it a good stir.
Once your salmon is cool, use two forks to gently flake it apart.
Add the salmon to the salad, stir once more to combine and you’re finished! I topped mine off with a bit more pepper, can never get enough. Smoky Salmon Pasta Salad is best served chilled, so give it at least an hour in the fridge before diving in. Enjoy!
